Keep it simple. The overall design of your site seems fine. Just work on the navigation. Maybe move the menus around and add clickable navigation? You seem to like sites with menus at the top, so maybe move them to the top and add some arrows to browse through the photos.

Don't get too discouraged. Your photos will ultimately speak for themselves. The website is just a tool for showcasing them.

Like you said I'm not sure those "flashy" type sites really reinforce your style and work.

From my vantage point I'd stick with the clean white background kind of sites.

A much better reinforcement of who you are as a photographer.

That's the question that keeps me from going to grad school, as bad as that may be to say. I have a staff job that ain't going away, I may into risk, but god only knows what's going to be happening in 3 years. I do like to remember one thing, content is king more than ever. I method for it to be monetized and provide salaries, and profits, will be found. It's just that no one knows what that will look like yet. At the end of the day though, if you can make a good photo, are dumb enough to be persistent enough, :) and want it bad enough, there will be away.

PETER! ahh! whoah, your blog is amazing and a million times cooler than my own. haha... yes i have found a photo club here in istres, but i am relearning the basics i'm afraid so we'll see how my photography career does.

and you won't believe it, but when asked the question about the most important american photographer i did wonder "what would peter have said" but i never got around to asking ya. likewise, there is a photo from edor i've always meant to send you but never did...i shall tout de suite therefore!
